AIG AUTO INSURANCE - only paid for 4 days rental car - repair took two weeks

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

FROM:Email User RE: AIG INSURANCE I AM ALSO HAVING MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH AIG INSURANCE. I WAS INVOLVED IN A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT IN FEBURARY. A 2 CHECKS WAS SENT TO MY HOUSE. ONE FOR REPAIR AND ONE TO GET A RENT A CAR FOR 4 DAYS. I RECEIVED THESE CHECKS 1 MONTH AFTER MY CAR WAS ESTIMATED. ALONG WITH THESE CHECKS AIG GAVE ME 3 BODY SHOPS THAT I COULD GO TO THAT WOULD TAKE THE CHECK AMOUNT. AFTER CALLING THESE BODY SHOPS AIG FORGOT TO MENTION THE SHOPS WOULD ALSO CHARGE ME EXTRA FEES FOR LABOR AND TAX FEES TO FIX THE DAMAGES.

THEREFORTH THE REPAIRS WERE MORE THAN THE CHECK AMOUNT THEY SENT ME. ALSO THE 3 BODY SHOPS THEY FOUND WERE OUT OF MY STATE LIVE IN PA.. THEY COULD ONLY LOCATE BODY SHOPS IN NEW YORK, ILLINOIS, CALIFORNIA, WHEN I FINALLY FOUND THE BODY SHOP WITH THE CHEAPEST OFFER IN THE PA .I STILL HAD TO PAY 600.00 MORE TO COVER THE ENTIRE REPAIR. THE COMPLAINT THAT I HAVE ABOUT AIG IS THEY GAVE ME ONLY 4 DAYS COVERAGE FOR A RENTAL CAR. 20 DOLLARS A DAY. WHICH WAS NOT ENOUGH. IT TOOK 2 WEEKS FOR MY CAR TO BE REPAIRED..

AND THE MAJOR PART THAT PISSED ME OFF WAS THAT AIG AUTO INSURANCE GAVE ME A CHECK WITH NOT ONLY MY NAME ON IT BUT THEY ALSO PUT MY CAR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION NAME ON THE CHECK . THEREFORTH I COULD NOT CASH THE CHECK TO REPAIR THE DAMAGES UNTIL I GOT TRANSOUTH FINANCIAL INSTITUTION CORPORATION TO SIGN OFF ON THE CHECK ALSO. I HAD TO MAIL THE CHECK OFF TO THIS CORPORATION. IN THE MEAN TIME I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR MORE TIME ON THE RENT A CAR.. I ENDED UP PAYING THE FULL AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR THE CAR REPAIR 1,500 DOLLARS. IF I DIDN’T PAY I WOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY ADDITIONAL CHARGES FOR STORAGE FEE FROM THE AUTO BODY SHOP WHICH WAS 35.00 AND MORE FEES FOR THE RENT A CAR… I NEEDED MY CAR BACK. I AM STILL WAITING AROUND FOR TRANSOUTH TO SIGN OFF ON THE CHECK AND MAIL IT BACK TO MY HOUSE SO THAT I CAN CASH IT.. AIG TO ME IS THE WORSE INSURANCE I HAVE EVER HAD. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER NEEDS. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING. THEIR RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE THE WORSE I HAVE EVER KNOWN OF. IM PAYING 2500.00 EVERY SIX MONTH FOR FULL COVERAGE ON AN FINANCED INFINITI G20.

FOR THAT PRICE I DESERVE MUCH BETTER SERVICE FROM A CAR INSURANCE COMPANY.. AIG IS NOT WORTH PAYING THIS MUCH FOR TO COVER MY CAR. IN RETURN THE SERVICE I GET FROM AIG IS THAT I HAVE TO COME OUT OF MY OWN POCKET AND WAIT AROUND TO GET REIMBURSED. AND THEY MAKE IT 10 TIMES HARD TO REIMBURSE PEOPLE.. WHAT THE HECK AM I PAYING 2500 EVERY SIX MONTH FOR. TILL THIS DAY I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY MY CAR FINANCIAL CORPORATION HAD TO GET INVOLVE WITH MY CAR REPAIRS. THE CAR WASN’T TOTALED, IT NEEDED REPAIR.. THE FINANCE CORPORATION HAD NO BUSINESS BEING APART OF THAT AFFAIR AT ALL. ALL THIS MONEY THAT I SPEND ON FULL COVERAGE FROM THE AIG INSURANCE.. I ALWAYS COME OUT POCKET AT THE END OF THE DEAL AND PAY MORE THAN WHAT AIG COVER. ITS LIKE I PAY EVERYTHING MYSELF. IM PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS JUST SO THE LAW CAN SAY I HAVE COVERAGE ON MY CAR.. AIG AUTO INSURANCE IS BULLCRAP AND I DO NOT ADVISE ANYONE TO GET AIG AUTO INSURANCE. I SWITCHED TO STATE FARMS CAR INSURANCE..WHICH I FEEL IS THE BEST AROUND RIGHT NOW. AIG AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY IS A BIG MONEY MAKING SCAM. LIKE CHASE MANHATTAN AIG DON’T COVER YOUR CAR THEY ROB PEOPLE POCKETS OF THEIR MONEY. SINCERELY

Vision Insurance Group / Tennessee

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

I am an Insured motorist with Vision Insurance Group or I was. My Insurance was to drop this month due to some points being deleted from my record. I was told as a result I would pay less. I only have liability.

In October I recieved a bill for $80.80 to be paid by 11/15/04. I made the payment on that very day. I have other bills also to consider. Anyhow, looking at the invoice it outlined the new payment schedule for the new policy that would go into the new year.

My payments said that I would only be paying $48.40 since the points were deleted from my record in November.

Two weeks later I received a canceled policy notice. I was upset. Why had I been canceled? I called the one eight hundred number and got Tennessee. They told me I owed them twenty dollars more and since I hadn’t paid them my insurance was canceled. I informed them that I did not get any notice for the twenty dollars. What I did get was a bill for the $80.80. They refused to listen. So I got back in tough with my agent here in Cincinnat, who told me they were suppose to refund me my eighty dollars right away. I told her they told me they would send it back in a month. In the meantime I am without insurance.

I think it was a dirty stinking show of professionalism for Vision to have done such a thing.

I even asked them to consider carrying the twenty dollars over to the next month, since I work and could not drive without insurance. My job is most important. They would get their twenty dollars!

They refused to listen to my suggestion.

I called them Southern Trash with a capital S. I stand by my insult.

Progressive automobile insurance - didn’t have uninsured motorist insurance - billed for $ 75,000 by Progressive

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

I can see now I’m not the only one that’s being screwed by progressive. Amazing, truely amazing. Well freinds, let me tell you a story that’s truely a story that will go down in history as the most absurd tale you have ever heard. Back in October of 2001 my car was in an accident. I had loaned my car out to my sister and she got into an accident with it. It was a Ford Contour. She receives the ticket, and Progressive totals my car outright. Which was just the beginning of the screwing. I actually take it quite nicely, I think I had a grimace on my face. The other people also had Progressive.

I need to take you back a few years when I first got my policy. Me… “What’s this uninsured motorist stuff and do I have to have it?” Progressive Agent… “No your not required to have it.” So I didn’t get it. Stupid me. I was advised that it was not neccessary to have.

Well, earlier this year I get a notice saying that the accident is under investigation and it comes to their conclusion that I didn’t have any liability insurance. Oh so uninsured motorist coverage is liability. Thanks for clearing that up. Than later this year I receive more mail from progressive, this ones a bill. A BILL FOR $75,000.00. That’s right a bill for SEVENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS. I was like sure let me get my pen. I totally disregarded it. They can’t get blood from a stone, come and get it. Then I get a letter in the mail last week.

This ones a copy they sent to The Motor Vehicle Dept./Safety Responsibility Unit. It’s a request to have my license suspended! What! So I called the Office of Insurance Regulation. Their a big help by the way. The Lady on the other end pretty much told me that I was Screwed. And she has as much insurance on her car as she can afford… well so did I. I thought I had full coverage. Apparently the state of Florida doesn’t require you to have liability on your vehicle, They call it uninsured motorist coverage. You know, I’m more than likely the **** here. Because I’m no insurance expert and I was made to feel like a **** by the people at the Office of Insurance regulation.

But, I don’t see how they can have my license suspended, when the State of Florida doesn’t require you to have that “option of insurance” on your policy. Oh yeah, there is no hope to get a temp. license to get back and forth to work. They also are going to suspend my tags!

I now have to get a good defense attorney. This is amazing. I know I can’t be the only one this has happened too. As long as this Liability is not manditory than this will happen all the time.I feel like the state and this insurance company are working together. $75,000.00 dollars what a crock. Here’s a email I wrote to Governor Bush: I really hate to bother the Governor with something as unrelated to his job as this gets. But, I don’t know what to do. I’m having this problem with Progressive car insurance. My sister got into a accident while driving my car. She recieves the ticket. Progressive was mine and the other persons insurance. Keep in mind I was nowhere near the accident. I thought I had full coverage, when you pay close to $150.00 a month you would think you where covered.

Their saying I don’t have any liability insurance. It’s actually uninsured motor vehicle covered. They sent a letter to the Motor vehicle Dept wanting them to suspend my license. I asked about the uninsured motor vehicle coverage and they said that it wasn’t required for me to have it. Now they want me to write them a check for $75,000.00 dollars. Like I have that kind of money. All I do is go to work and try to make my car payment and house payment, pay my taxes. And now I’m going to be ruined by a lousy insurance company that their main porpose in life is to screw people. I really don’t see how they can request to have my license suspended. They call it the Financial Responsibility Laws. If I was required to have this insurance than why is it offered as an option. It seams a little strange that people can decline this addition if their required to have it. They keep harrassing me with letters. Saying that they haven’t received the payment of $75,000.00. What can someone like me do. I can’t afford a attorney.

They are the ones that I paid to advise me badly. Now I may lose everything I worked so hard for. I’ve been in the same job for 7 years now. I’m 33 years old. It would take me 2 lifetimes to pay that off. If I lose my license from this, that would really back up my beliefs in this country. Ifthis is actually required to have and everyone has the option to turn it down, then why isn’t the state making it a manditory insurance when people get their automobiles. As soon as they get a policy it should be included and NOT given as a option to decline. Please Governor Bush tell me what you think. Thank you, JOHN Here is “His” Response: Dear Mr. Varno: Governor Bush has received your e-mail and has asked me to respond. The Governor appreciates you writing regarding your insurance concern.

As you may know, insurance company regulatory matters are under the administrative authority of the Department of Insurance and the Office of Insurance Regulation. In an effort to assist you, I am forwarding your e-mail to that office for review. The Governor believes insurance should be affordable and accessible and that insurance companies should be dependable, responsive, and efficient. I can assure you that any legislation reaching Governor Bush’s desk that involves insurance matters receives his close attention. Thank you again for writing. I hope this information will be helpful to you. Sincerely, Eva Baxter Executive Office of Governor Jeb Bush State of Florida

MY RESPONSE BACK: Eva, Thank you for your help. I called the Insurance Consumer Advocates office yesterday and the only thing they can do is belittle you and make you feel like your a fool for not understanding your policy. Ann B. pretty much told me that she has as much insurance on her vehicle as she can afford and that its not the insurance companies responsibility to educate their costumers. Which I realize, but that doesn’t give the state the right to take someone’s license away from them if the type of insurance they actually needed wasn’t enforced by the state to begin with. If the state of Florida doesn’t make uninsured motorist coverage (liability) a part of the minimum standard insurance, than I definitely won’t be the last person this will happen to. I by no means am a insurance expert and I realize now you have to be because insurance companies can and have the right to mislead their clients by not explaining or showing the consequences of not having uninsured motorist coverage.

I have no means to pay the $75,000.00 to the insurance company, so I will more than likely be forced to file Bankruptcy to solve this issue and the insurance company will still not have their money. But they will succeed in ruining my life for a while. Thank You For letting Me Vent. -JOHN In the long run there’s no way Progressive will get the money from me. I don’t have it. What will more than likely happen is I will be forced to file Bankrutpcy, and they will succeed in screwing my life up for a long while.

Thank you for time on this site.

Geico Sucks! - 2000 Pontiac Firebird accident - didn’t pay for diminished value due to vehicle

Geico Sucks! - 2000 Pontiac Firebird accident - didn’t pay for diminished value due to vehicle

My 2000 Pontiac Firebird was involved in an accident that was determined to be not my fault. Thanks to Geico’s insured my vehicle had $2800+ of damages. After getting my vehicle repaired to the best of the body shops ability I had a diminished value report performed on my vehicle. Their report indicated I had $2501.00 of lost value on my vehicle.

Being that the wreck was not my fault, the age of the car and that due to Geico’s insured causing the wreck I filed a claim with Gieco. After speaking to Kelly Bicknell (972-740-1958) and speaking to his boss Greg Shook (972-701-1666) about my claim they indicated that my vehicle was repaired to pre-loss conidtion and that my vehicle did not suffer diminished value. Hello!!!

Didn’t you see the report that faxed and mailed to you. When asked about my report they indicated it was just an appraiser’s opinion subject to interpretation. Essitentially after waiting two weeks they indicated they would not pay what I am entitled to and hung up on me.

For more information see the Texas Department of Insurance website if you are unfamilar with diminished value. For this reason and many others Geico definately sucks and blows at the same time. I have made the decision to also create a website to allow others to post their problems with Geico.

Perhaps eventually get a class-action lawsuit. Unfortunately they already bought www.geicosucks.com but that won’t stop me! Jim

5 Steps to Filing Your Auto Insurance Claim

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

1. Evaluate whether or not you should file a claim: Did you know that just when you call your insurance company with a question about possibly filing a claim it is often recorded on your insurance record? It is important to keep your insurance record clean and one way is deciding whether or not you should file a claim. It doesn’t matter if the accident is your fault or not, you should ask yourself first if you can pay for the damage. Simply put, if you can pay for it yourself without financial hardship, don’t file the claim.

2. Fill out your What to do After an Auto Accident Worksheet: This worksheet, which when you click on the title is provided for print-out, will help you keep track of the information you will need to file your auto insurance claim. It is important to get every detail of the accident documented and to try to find witnesses that would be willing to talk to your insurance company to back-up your story.

3. File the claim ASAP: You will want to file the claim as soon as possible with your insurance company. Even if it is not your fault, your insurance company will handle the claim process as your advocate.

4. Prepare for a possible call from the other insurance company: If there is a dispute between the two parties in the accident, you may get a call from the other driver’s insurance company asking for your version of what happened at the accident scene. If this happens make sure you document everything you say and the name of the customer service agent you talked too.

5. Finally, getting your car fixed: If you had body damage to your vehicle this is when you will finally get it fixed. After your claim is approved, you will likely get a call from your insurance company about sending an insurance adjuster out to assess the damage or asking you to send your car to a pre-approved shop to get it fixed.
